As a member of the Emergency Management Services Department I will consider the safety and wellbeing of the people of the City of Tshwane and its visitors my prime concern at all times.

Therefore:
  • I undertake to do my best to ensure safety in the city by means of applicable action, advising, helping, educating and being vigilant at all times.
Consequently I will:
  • Serve the public with courtesy and dignity at all times;
  • respect human dignity at all times, irrespective of race, gender or creed;
  • heed my training and keep myself ready in mind, body and spirit;
  • be loyal to my colleagues, the Department, the Council and the people whom I serve;
  • be respectful to my colleagues, superiors and subordinates;
  • be honest and trustworthy in all things;
  • respect the law and never place myself above it;
  • accept and obey the rules and regulations of the Council and my Department;
  • respect the materials given to me to work with. I will look after vehicles, tools and machinery as if they were my own;
  • be committed to safety procedures at all times and in my professional conduct be guided by Policy, Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Regulations;
  • be an example to others which means that my dress and behavior in public will be beyond reproach at all times;
  • not harass anyone, particularly of the opposite sex, or of race groups other than my own, especially if they are placed under my supervision and control;
  • value life, property and environment above all else;
  • value the faith and trust of the people, and continuously work to achieve confidence through my attitude and conduct;
  • enhance ownership of all the role players, and to treat all people immaterial of race, age or creed with dignity and respect;
  • be sensitive to the needs of the community;
  • enforce all statutory responsibilities;
  • strive for excellence and discipline in everything I do;
  • ensure that the safety of the people is of paramount importance followed closely by the safety of our members;
  • maintain myself in mind, body and spirit;
  • above all be a person of my word, dignified, honest, dedicated and professional, a true ambassador of the city of Tshwane;
As a member of the Emergency Management Services Department I will at all times strive to uphold the departmental mission to:
  • Ensure, promote and sustain the safety of life and property according to relevant criteria and standards in order to enable the Tshwane community to prosper by rendering cost effective, efficient and professional Emergency Management Services.
