This event is the highlight of the activities of the Education Committee every year.
This ceremony is held during the opening of the bi-annual Conference of the Institute or the annual Institute Council meeting the following year. Candidates are invited to attend the event and receive their awards or prizes in person. Awards are presented to students who have exelled in their examinations. The criteria is based on an academic year of study, meaning we take the best performer between the April and October examination every year. The award for "passing all four subjects in one academic year" is based on the October/April or April/October examination, e.g. October 2000 plus April 2001 or April 2001 plus October 2001. The best performer between these two senarios is awarded the award. The "Sysman Tour" is sponsored by Mr. Ed Jowitt of Sysman and is annually arranged by the members of the Education Committee. It is conducted during one of the marking sessions and comprises an educational tour to venues that are not familiar to the student, or situated in his region. For e.g. the students of 1999, 2000 and 2001 visited the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, Cape Town International Airport etc. The "SAESI Student of the year" award and tour is sponored by Weber Hydraulik and is arranged by the personnel of Weber Hydraulik. This award comprises a fully paid overseas trip whereby the winner will visit the Weber Hydraulik company and other places in Austria. The prize winners for the 2005 Academic year were:
